Bhutan follows a “High Value, Low Volume” tourism policy to protect its pristine environment and rich cultural heritage.
To visit, travelers must book a tour through an accredited tour operator, as independent travel is not permitted.
Visa Requirements:
All visitors (except nationals of a few neighboring countries) require a visa.
Visas are only issued upon arrival but must be applied for and approved in advance through your tour operator.
A valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity beyond your entry date is mandatory.
Tourism Tariff:
A daily fee of USD 100 per person applies year-round. This covers meals, accommodation, transportation, licensed guides and porters, and cultural programs — ensuring a well-rounded, immersive Bhutanese experience.
